About No Search browser extension

What is No Search?

No Search is a browser extension which stops accidental searches from the address bar. When you typo a website address or paste unexpected text into the address bar, No Search will stop the accidental search and help you correct the typo. After correcting the typo, you can continue to perform the search or go to the website.

How do I use the extension?

After installing No Search, the extension will automatically stop accidentally searches from the address bar. Every time you type any text in the address bar and press enter, the extension will stop the search if the text isn't a website. If the text is a website, you will continue to the website. If you made a typo while typing in a website, you can fix it and then press "Go" in the page.

Where can I use the extension?

You can use the extension in any browser that can install Google Chrome extensions. You will soon be able to use the extension in Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox.

Other extensions replace the browser's default search engine. What makes this one different?

Other extensions don't stop the search from happening, which means you're making several extra searches per day. This can add up to hundreds of extra searches over a month. With No Search, it takes less time to realize an accidental search happened. No Search also is compatible with any New Tab extension, unlike most other search extensions.

No Search Support

In Google Chrome, the text box in my New Tab is missing. How do I search or go to websites?

You can type in the address bar at the top of the window to search or go to websites. The address bar works in the same way as the text box you used to see in your New Tab. In the future, we will create a companion New Tab extension to also show a text box in New Tabs.
